Students experimenting with cameras practiced on their fellow participants after a short demonstration in Griffin Hall on NKU’s campus. They learned how to use the camera for both video and still photos, and it was a fun exercise to get to know each other. The students later went out on assignment to NKU’s Student Union and the Early Childhood Center to capture photos that told a story. Veteran photojournalist Bruce Crippen worked with students on the fundamental elements of photography like leading lines, rule of thirds, symmetry, scope, depth of field, framing and choosing a decisive moment. “Focus on the people,” Crippen reminded the students as they got comfortable with their cameras.
