Moe Daniels is pumped for this summer’s 2015 Journalism in the Digital Age Camp. Although this is her first year helping with the camp as a mentor, NKU has prepared her well.

Last semester,  Moe’s journalism career as an undergraduate student took off when she took Michele Day’s news media workshop course. During her time in this class she became involved with NKU’s newspaper, The Northerner. This year she has been able to take on the position as assistant news editor for The Northerner.

“Before Michele’s class I didn’t really have a clue what a writing for newspaper was like,” Moe said. “I learned quickly and wrote so many stories covering news related events at NKU from the administration to the student government elections.”

Although Moe’s high school did not have a newspaper at the time she wishes she would have done more to learn about journalism prior to college.

“My biggest piece of advice for high school students who are interested in majoring in journalism would be to write as much as you can,” she explained “You are already ahead of the game by attending the camp. Keep a journal, start a blog, or even try and get articles published in your hometown’s newspaper.”

In her spare time, Moe works as a barista at Starbucks, reads, enjoys running around campus, and trying out new restaurants.

1. Favorite TV Show and why –Scandal or House of Cards. I love the drama that goes on each week. Kevin Spacey is also an awesome actor in House of Cards.
2. Favorite Social Media site or blog and why –Instagram since it is all visual with photos/videos. It is just more fun to scroll through.
3. Memorable moment and why — This is a really broad question since I probably have a 1,000 but I’ll narrow it down to my time at NKU. On bid day two years ago when I found my home away from home in Kappa Delta.
4. If a movie was made of your life what genre would it be and who should play you — Drama and Rachel McAdams. She is just flawless in every single movie.
5. What’s one thing you’d put on your bucket list and why  — Go to Italy! I have never been to Europe before and my favorite food is Italian so what a great combination.
