NKU makes it easy for students to adjust to college life
FreshFusion introduces incoming freshmen to NKU

Northern Kentucky University annually puts on an event called FreshFusion. FreshFusion is an event that allows freshmen to easily get involved in student groups. This event is huge and always has to do something different every year; one year they even had ziplines over the Loch Norse. We interviewed AJ Miller, the Coordinator of Student Engagement; he’s the person who puts on Fresh Fusion.
“FreshFusion every year is about a $10,000 to $15,000 dollar event,” Miller said. “It’s all provided by the university… students here as part of their tuition fee pay a student activities fee and that funds large campus events like Fresh Fusion.”
We also interviewed Derek Holden, the former president of Tau Kappa Epsilon and the former NKU mascot. We asked Derek if FreshFusion was the thing that introduced him into his clubs.
“Yes, it was really awesome about 3,000 people were there and every organization on campus was there and that’s how I got to meet everyone I know now…It’s a great way to connect with other students besides other organizations and ingratiate yourself with the atmosphere of NKU,” Holden said.
